Teaching a course
Build a course in the app's Courses section, with modules and items of every kind, then run discussions, collect homework, set quizzes and tests, keep a gradebook, and give the course a library.
Teachers build and run courses in the app's Courses section. Learners use the public site.
Who can teach
- Teachers of the site can create courses and teach every course.
- An instructor of a course has the same rights in that one course (but cannot delete it).
Building a course
- In Courses, create a course: title, address, summary, description and a cover.
- Add modules, in order.
- Add items to each module: videos, readings, documents, slides, images, audio presentations, assignments, quizzes and tests. A PDF can be shown as slides, page by page.
- Keep a course or module in draft until it is ready; publish it when learners may see it.
Running it
- Discussions: answer questions in the course's forum and under each item.
- Assignments: learners hand in files; you grade them and give feedback.
- Quizzes and tests: a test is a quiz with stricter settings; marking is automatic where the questions allow.
- Gradebook: assignments with their grade, quizzes and tests with each student's best attempt.
- Export: take a course out as a package and bring it into another site.
The course library
Give the course a library from its Library tab on the learner site (Create the course library) or in the app's Library section (New library, audience Course). The people who may take the course read it inside the course; the course's teachers edit it in the app. Write guides and answers there, and the course's FAQ grows from the questions students ask its librarian. See Writing in the Library.
