Taking a course
Courses on the site are made of modules you work through at your own pace, with discussions, assignments, quizzes and tests, grades, and a library of their own.
Courses live under Learn on the site. Anyone can look at the catalogue and a course's outline; log in to open the content and take part.
A course
Each course is made of modules, worked through in order. A module holds items of these kinds:
| Kind | What it is |
|---|---|
| Video | Watch in the page; your place is remembered |
| Reading | Text in the page |
| Document | A PDF or another file to read or download |
| Slides | Slides to page through |
| Image | A picture, figure or chart |
| Audio presentation | Slides with a narrator |
| Assignment | Work to hand in |
| Quiz or test | Questions, marked for you |
Opening a course the first time enrols you as a student. Mark each item done as you go; the progress bar and Continue with… take you back to where you stopped.
The course's tabs
| Tab | What is there |
|---|---|
| Overview | What the course is about, and its modules |
| Modules | Every module and item, with what you have done |
| Discussions | Questions and answers with your teachers and classmates; each item has Ask about this |
| Assignments | What to hand in, the due date and points, your submissions and feedback |
| Quizzes and tests | Your attempts and results |
| Grades | Your grades in one place |
| Library | The course's own library, when it has one: readings, guides and answers, searchable, with an AI librarian that answers from them |
The course library
A course can have its own library, open only to the people who take the course. Search it, browse its topics, read its FAQ, or ask the librarian a question in your own words: the AI answers only from the course library's articles and links to them. See Using the Library.
Practice in your own review
Lessons on research methods often point to the matching stage of the app: practise it in a review of your own.
